Thursday 11 June 2025
Thank you to everyone who came to see us on the lido’s 96th birthday (Sunday 1 June) and bought our Park Road Lido merchandise. It was great to talk to everyone, get your feedback, and share the passion we all have for the lido.
Thanks also to the centre’s General Manager who made free hot drinks and biscuits available throughout the day.
We completely sold out of Park Road Lido mugs, tote bags, and posters after the event, but if you fancy a swimming hat, greeting cards, large key ring, or ultra-practical locker token key ring, visit our merchandise web page and we’ll get you kitted out.
Initial cover installation preparatory works were completed during the last week of May. Cover installation itself has been delayed from 10–13 June while some additional groundworks are completed (new dates yet to be confirmed).
However, the timing of the installation of new circulation pumps has now been confirmed and will require a closure. The lido will be closed from Tuesday 17 to Thursday 26 June, inclusive.
The new pumps will improve reliability and energy efficiency. Weʼve challenged the need for such a lengthy closure but have been told thereʼs no alternative.
Notices confirming the closure are on display at the centre and members of the centre have been emailed by Haringey Active Wellbeing; additional information on the works is available on the Haringey website.
We’re delighted to see that brand new mats have replaced the grubby old ones under the outdoor showers — a long-awaited but much appreciated improvement.
Although the indoor female showers have been repaired, they are still not hot enough. Meanwhile, the outdoor showers are still too cool. These temperature issues have been reported and will we hope be addressed soon.
A new version of Haringey’s Active Wellbeing app has been rolled out for some, if not all, users.
From what we’ve seen so far, it’s a welcome update in that it:
allows users to browse available slots separately for indoor and outdoor swimming
has new notification features that will allow the centre to communication more effectively with members
allows users to display a virtual membership card on their phone.
It’s still early days, though — the virtual membership card isn’t yet scanning successfully at the turnstile, for example — and a number of other issues affecting booking have yet to be addressed.
Unfortunately, opening hours changed again this week without notice. The centre introduced two 30-minute closures of the lido on weekday afternoons, at 14:30–15:00 and 17:00–17:30, either side of a one-hour family swim session.
Initially, the changes to the new app made it look as though no lane swimming at all was available between 14:30 and 17:30 on weekdays and after 11:00 on weekends. While the centre works on fixing things, users are encouraged to check what slots are available under both “Outdoor/Lido Swim” and “Outdoor/Lido Family Swim” options.
The lido timetable as we currently understand it is available on our new opening times page.
